This 2-day private Trabzon tour from Istanbul is designed for travelers who want to discover the natural landscapes and historic landmarks of Türkiye’s Eastern Black Sea region in a short time. It is also an ideal option for those with limited time or anyone planning a weekend escape to the Black Sea.
On the first day, visit Sumela Monastery, Altindere National Park, Zigana Pass and Hamsikoy. On the second day, travel through the scenic Solakli Valley to Uzungol, with time to enjoy panoramic viewpoints and explore the lakeside.
To help you make the most of both days, our travel agency arranges an early outbound flight from Istanbul and an evening return flight, with the flight details shared before your trip. The tour starts and ends at Trabzon Airport, while its private format allows break times and the pace of the experience to be adapted to your group.
Day 1Sumela Monastery, Zigana Pass and Hamsikoy
After arriving in Trabzon in the morning, meet the local team at Trabzon Airport and travel by private vehicle for approximately one hour to Altindere National Park.
Take the national park shuttle to the beginning of the walking route. Along the forest path, stop at the viewpoint near the Chapel of Saint Barbara, where you can see and photograph the iconic cliffside setting of Sumela Monastery. Continue past historic aqueducts and stone stairways before reaching the monastery.
With commentary from your local guide, explore the Main Rock Church, chapels, monks’ rooms and traces of monastic life. After the visit, return to your private vehicle and continue toward Zigana Pass, a historic mountain crossing on the old Silk Road. Stop briefly to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Continue to Hamsikoy, a traditional mountain village known for its peaceful scenery and local rice pudding. Enjoy free time for lunch, choose a restaurant with recommendations from your guide and try the village’s famous dessert if you wish. Lunch is paid for by the guest.
After visiting Hamsikoy, return to central Trabzon and check in at your hotel. The evening is free for you to relax or explore the city independently.

Special info
Visiting Sumela Monastery involves an approximately 350-metre forest path and a section with stairs after the shuttle stop. Parts of the route may be inclined, uneven and slippery in wet weather.
The site is unsuitable for wheelchairs and strollers. Comfortable walking shoes with non-slip soles are recommended, together with a light rain jacket or an extra layer for the region’s changeable weather.
Day 2Uzungol and Solakli Valley – Trabzon Airport
After breakfast at the hotel, complete the check-out procedures and board your private vehicle with your luggage. Travel with your guide through the green landscapes of the Eastern Black Sea region as you begin the scenic journey toward Uzungol.
Two short stops add local character to the journey. First, visit an outlet where you can see traditionally crafted Surmene knives. Continue to a local tea factory to learn how Black Sea tea is produced and enjoy a tea tasting. Shopping at both stops is entirely optional.
Follow the mountain scenery of Solakli Valley before arriving in Uzungol. Begin with a photo stop at the Uzungol Observation Terrace, overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains. Continue to the lakeside, where you can see the Artificial Waterfalls, walk beside the lake and experience the peaceful natural setting of Haldizen Valley.
Enjoy free time to explore the lakeside or relax at one of the local cafés and restaurants. The time and place for lunch can be arranged according to your preferences and recommendations from your guide. Lunch is paid for by the guest.
After your time in Uzungol, begin the return journey to Trabzon. You will be transferred to Trabzon Airport for the evening flight arranged by our travel agency, bringing your two-day private Black Sea experience to an end.

Tour Start and End Point: The tour begins at Trabzon Airport after your flight from Istanbul and ends at Trabzon Airport on the second day. Transportation to Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport is arranged by the guest.
Flight Arrangements: Round-trip flights are arranged by our travel agency after the booking and payment are confirmed. A suitable morning departure and evening return flight will be selected to make the most of the two-day itinerary. Flight details will be sent by email no later than 2 days before the tour. Flight times depend on the selected Istanbul airport, seat availability, airline schedules and operational conditions. Upon request, the return flight may be arranged to another city in Turkey, subject to direct-flight availability and budget conditions.
Passenger Details and Communication: All passenger details must match the traveller’s ID card or passport exactly. The Participant Information Form included in the booking confirmation email must be completed in full. Providing an active WhatsApp number is recommended so our operations team can contact you before the tour.
Private Tour Flexibility: The tour is operated with a private vehicle and guide. Breaks and lunch times can be adjusted to your preferences whenever possible. The main itinerary remains subject to flight schedules, weather, attraction opening hours and operational requirements. The order of visits may be changed when necessary.
Sumela Monastery Visit: The final approach to the monastery includes a forest path, stairs and a walk of approximately 350 metres. Comfortable, non-slip walking shoes are recommended. Guests with limited mobility should contact our travel agency before booking. Admission to Sumela Monastery is not included. The entrance fee is EUR 20 per person.
Meals: Breakfast at the hotel on the second day is included. Lunches are paid for by the guest, and dinner is not provided. Your guide can recommend suitable restaurants and break locations.
Cancellation and Refund Policy: Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the tour are eligible for a full refund of the tour and accommodation services. Flight tickets remain subject to the airline’s cancellation and refund rules. Any airfare not refunded by the airline is excluded from the package refund.
